Ford worker in Ohio dies in workplace accident while performing maintenance

Tragic Incident at Ohio Ford Plant

A Ford employee in Ohio lost his life this week after a malfunctioning industrial machine crushed him at the company’s factory.

The accident occurred around 9:45 a.m. on Monday, prompting authorities to respond to the Ford plant in Sharonville, located on East Sharon Road. When they arrived, they found a press machine that was supposed to be in maintenance but had unexpectedly activated, leaving some workers in a precarious situation.

First responders managed to perform life-saving efforts after extracting the worker from the machinery and rushed him to Bethesda North Hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The victim was identified as Gregory Knopp, a 61-year-old employee.

According to local police, multiple witnesses were present during the incident, which is currently classified as an industrial accident. The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are both investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

A spokesperson for Ford expressed their condolences, stating, “A tragic incident occurred today at our Sharonville transmission plant resulting in the death of an employee.” They also mentioned that the company is in touch with the deceased’s family, offering support during this tough time.

Ford’s Sharonville plant employs over 2,000 people across a vast area and produces around 3,500 transmissions daily. The company emphasized that safety remains their primary concern and that they are committed to investigating the incident thoroughly. Counseling services are also being made available to employees who may need them.

As of now, both Ford Motor Company and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office have not provided further comments on the situation.
