Former Australian PM deletes critical tweets of Trump after winning election: ‘Most destructive president’

Kevin Rudd, a former Australian prime minister and current ambassador to the United States in Washington, deleted a tweet criticizing President-elect Donald Trump after winning the presidential election.

Rudd described Trump as “the most destructive president in history” in a 2020 post, NDTV reported.

He served as Australia's 26th Prime Minister and leader of the Labor Party from 2007 to 2010, and was re-elected in 2013 after a brief stint as Australia's Foreign Minister.

“This was done to eliminate the possibility that such comments could be misconstrued as reflecting his position as ambassador and, by extension, the Australian government's views. Ambassador Rudd has since shared several posts on social media site X congratulating President-elect Trump, including one in which he claims to have personally called Trump.

The AUKUS Agreement is a trilateral alliance of the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom established in 2021 to promote security in the Indo-Pacific region.
