Former Baltimore City Attorney Marilyn Mosby is fighting to block the sale of her Florida mansion, which her lawyers say is her only “significant asset,” as she appeals her mortgage fraud conviction.
Federal prosecutors plan to seize the Florida Gulf Coast condominium under Judge Lydia Griggs’ May 23 order. Prosecutors argue they should require Mosby to relinquish the property after he is convicted in February 2024 of mortgage fraud. Fox 45 News report.
Mosby purchased the condo in Longboat Key, Florida, for $476,000 in February 2021. If the condo sells at a profit, she will get her $47,600 down payment back, according to court documents.

Mosby requested and was granted permission to stay out of prison while his case appeals, but he is still seeking a presidential pardon.
Mosby’s lawyers argued that the property was purchased to ensure financial independence as his marriage broke down.
“The home has provided a significant source of rental income while Ms. Mosby awaits the outcome of her appeal and, with her legal career now in jeopardy, the home may soon become her only source of income,” court documents state.

“The home is Ms. Mosby’s only significant asset,” the document states.
Mosby’s lawyers pointed out that Mosby originally paid $476,000 for the condo, and that Redfin estimated the property’s value at $886,084, while Zillow estimated it at $781,800, the news station reported.

She was convicted in November. Two counts of perjury She was convicted by a federal jury of attempting to withdraw money from the city’s retirement fund by falsely claiming financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. No verdict has been reached in either case.
