Former Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby avoids jail, sentenced to 1 year of home detention

Former Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby avoided prison time on Thursday when a judge sentenced her to home detention and supervised release after convicting her of perjury and mortgage fraud, local reports said.

The Baltimore Sun reported that U.S. District Judge Lydia Kay Grigsby sentenced Mosby to one year of home confinement and three years’ imprisonment, even though prosecutors had asked for a 20-month sentence for the former state’s attorney. He was reportedly sentenced to supervised release.

The forfeiture hearing was followed by a sentencing hearing before a federal judge on Thursday for Mosby, who was previously convicted of mortgage fraud after testifying that he unintentionally made false statements when applying for loans to buy two Florida vacation homes.
