Paxton Lynch’s Journey Back to Football
During the 2016 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos made waves by selecting quarterback Paxton Lynch in the first round, which surprised many. Yet, despite his promising start as a standout from the University of Memphis, Lynch only suited up for five games in the NFL before moving between practice squads across the league. His most recent stint was with the Pittsburgh Steelers back in 2020.
Recently, Lynch aimed to revive his football career with the Colorado Spartans of the National Arena League, but his comeback hit a snag when he tore his LCL in a game early in the season.
Reflecting on this setback, Lynch expressed his disappointment, stating, “It’s terrible. I didn’t want this to happen.” Still, he seemed relieved to be playing again, even if it was in an indoor league. “If I’m going to play arena football this year, I’m going to have full faith in myself,” he mentioned, indicating he was ready to embrace the challenge.
In those three games he played with Colorado, Lynch managed to throw three touchdown passes. However, midway through the season, Javin Kilgo took over the quarterback position. The Spartans currently have a record of two wins and three losses.
As Lynch considers what lies ahead, he’s uncertain about whether he’ll continue playing in 2027. Nevertheless, he seems at peace with the idea that if this league is the conclusion of his career, he can accept that.
