Concerns Raised Over Graham Platner’s Candidacy for U.S. Senate

A former political director of Graham Platner voiced mounting worries regarding the Maine Democratic Party in a Washington Post op-ed published on Monday. She asserted that her previous boss should not hold the position of U.S. senator.

“I halted my campaigning in October, feeling disillusioned by what I discovered about the candidate. I was really worried about how this would affect the Democratic Party in his home state,” Genevieve McDonald expressed. She emphasized that as the primary approaches, it’s crucial to outline the developments from August onward that have only heightened her concerns.

McDonald criticized Platner for a consistent pattern of dishonesty. “Despite facing scandals since last October, he continued claiming there were no hidden issues,” she pointed out. “However, new allegations have arisen, including serious accusations of physical abuse from an ex-girlfriend just recently.”

Interestingly, she described herself as “one of the first victims of gaslighting in the Platner campaign,” stating that the team dismissed her worries about his Nazi tattoos and questioned his electability.

“Initially, I wanted to believe his explanations,” she admitted, “but as time passed, it became evident that his flaws as a candidate were inescapable.” McDonald recounted how her discomfort grew as disturbing details about Platner’s Reddit activity surfaced, leading her to conclude that the campaign lacked sincerity.

After resigning, she alleged that Platner’s team attempted to offer her $15,000 to sign a nondisclosure agreement, which she rejected. She also mentioned that in the months following her departure, numerous women approached her with unsettling stories about Platner.

“Enough is enough,” McDonald concluded emphatically.
