Don Lemon said Wednesday on social media site X (formerly Twitter) that Elon Musk canceled the former CNN anchor’s upcoming talk show before even a single episode aired.

Musk is said to have expressed his displeasure in a statement about X in an interview with X Channel on Friday, nearly two months after the deal was revealed.
“The interview he graciously agreed to was open-ended, and my questions were respectful and wide-ranging, covering everything from SpaceX to the presidential election,” Lemon said. Ta. “We had a good conversation. Obviously he felt differently.”
Lemon added that Musk’s interviews will continue to be available on X and YouTube. “While Elon keeps his word, I will redouble my commitment to free speech,” he continued.
In a video later uploaded to X, Lemon says: Elon Musk is mad at me. He went on to say that their one-on-one conversation was very “tense.”
X’s verified corporate account confirmed in a post that the company had “decided not to enter into any commercial partnership with the show.” Musk was responding to a question from an X user asking for specifics about Lemon’s show being cancelled. But Elon essentially accused Lemon of serving as a spokesperson for former CNN CEO Jeff Zucker, who resigned in early 2022.
“It lacked authenticity because it wasn’t the real Don Lemon, it was actually Jeff Zucker speaking through Don,” Musk explained.
Lemons let go in January CNN signed a content deal with X last April as part of the company’s efforts to expand its video services. Additionally, the website collaborated with sports personality Jim Rome and former Hawaii state representative Tulsi Gabbard.
“Elon publicly invited me to join X’s new show, saying I had his ‘full support’ and that his ‘Digital Town Square is for everyone.’ …I accepted Elon and his leadership team’s interest in working directly with new and diverse voices for the first time,” Lemon said in a statement.
After taking control of Twitter, formerly known as Twitter, in late 2022, Musk vowed to transform the network into a forum for free speech.
