Former Disney Cast Member Sentenced to Prison for Hacking Company’s Allergy Menu System

Michael Schuer, a former Walt Disney World cast member, was sentenced to prison after hacking the company’s internal allergy menu system and altering important safety information about food provided at the resort.

Scheuer was sentenced to three years in federal prison on Wednesday after knowingly pleading guilty in January to intentionally send an unauthorized command to a protected computer and committing an aggravated misuse of his identity. Report At the park location.

US District Judge Julie Snead also ordered a former Disney cast member to confiscate computer equipment and pay the victim $687,776.50.

Scheuer was fired from Disney in June 2024, but for months after termination, he had retained access to the company’s internal menu system on his personal device, a federal filing reveals.

Meanwhile, a previous Disney employee changed menus to show off something blasphemous, changed the font, manipulated allergen information manipulated in the resort’s menu, what was considered his worst attack.

When hacking Disney’s resort menus, Scheuer fakes warnings to make certain foods safe when they were actually dangerous to consume.

Authorities said the menu, which will be changed by Scheuer, could put guests with severe allergies at serious risk.

Additionally, Scheuer also changed information about Disney’s drink lists, exchanging the local origins of certain wines where national tragedy occurred recently.

He also reportedly added an offensive symbol to the menu, blocking access to the company’s internal accounts through a denial of service (DOS) cyberattack.

In a strange and disturbing move, Schuer also visited the homes of cast members affected by his actions and gave a thumbs up hand gesture to the security cameras outside the residence before leaving.

Disney reportedly responded by booking hotels for targeted employees and provided security at the location.

Due to the nature of the cyberattack and the escalating event, the FBI’s Tampa Division was involved and sent agents to Schuer’s residence, where he was attacked and seized electronics, Park Place reported.

“The formidable relationship with the private sector is a pillar of the FBI’s cyber strategy,” said Matthew Fodor, the special agent in charge. “The strengths of our partnership have led the CyberTask Force to quickly identify Schuer and disrupt his ability to threaten the public.”

“We are committed to protecting robust cyber strategies to mask malicious cyber actors to ensure that justice is provided,” Fodor added.

After news of Scheuer’s menu hacking activity came to light, the lawyer for the fired Disney employee emphasized to NBC News that “no one could physically hurt.”

Disney reportedly stopped using third-party menu management applications that Scheuer has hacked and stopped moving to the manual approval process while the company waits for a new, secure platform to be developed.
