Former DOJ Official Explains How Merchan Might Manipulate Trump’s Trial Timing For Political Gain

Former President George W. Bush's Department of Justice (DOJ) official John Yoo appeared on FOX Business on Thursday to discuss how Judge Juan Marchan is mishandling President-elect Donald Trump's case. I gave my opinion.

Monaka exterior In “Evening Edit,” Yoo argues that based on the U.S. Supreme Court's July 1 ruling that pointed out flaws in the litigation process, the case can be resolved immediately, such as by dismissing the case or ordering a retrial. He criticized Mr Marchand for delaying action. Yu said Marchan's reluctance to speed up the trial process appears to be politically motivated.

“I think Judge Marchand's quest to get his hands on Donald Trump, the Moby Dick, is what we'll see tomorrow.” It's revealing the true political nature of Mr. Trump, because he has already said that he does not intend to sentence Mr. Trump to prison,'' Yu told Elizabeth MacDonald. “However, Trump does not have time to effectively appeal this case, as we want to sentence him just 11 days before he takes office.”

Yu said the move was calculated to damage President Trump's legacy and future.

“We all know that at some point Marchan will have to throw out the case or have a new jury trial because the Supreme Court on July 1st said the case was flawed. what it would do and why it would I say it's political because he could have been doing something else, but he dragged his feet for six months, making Trump the first felon president in our country's history. “To make sure,” said a former Justice Department official.

Host MacDonald then said there were inconsistencies in the prosecution's approach. He said the cases, which are often dismissed to the level of misdemeanors, have escalated to federal felonies posing as campaign finance violations.

“When Attorney Alvin Bragg increases federal felonies for campaign finance violations, it's like a parking ticket,” McDonald said. “You know that, John, he never proved that this influenced anyone's vote in any way, shape or form.”

“Yes, actually, that's the other reason you just gave, the reason this whole trial was conducted in an unconstitutional manner,” Yu said to MacDonald.

Yu also said that the Department of Justice and the Federal Election Commission (FEC) had previously decided not to pursue similar allegations.

“It makes no sense that a second-rate prosecutor in New York City would try to re-litigate the entire election from 2016 onwards. The Department of Justice investigated this, the FEC investigated it, and they decided not to litigate it. , what Marchand and Bragg did was, as you said, they took this accounting law and tried to subvert it,” Yu said. A Manhattan jury in May convicted Trump on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to a non-disclosure agreement with adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Marchand said there were no legal barriers to sentencing and summoned Trump to court on January 10. He said it would be “undesirable” to issue a ruling after the president takes office.
