Mark Kimmitt Praises US Strike on Iran’s Nuclear Sites
During an appearance on CNN with Anderson Cooper, retired US Army Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt expressed his admiration for the recent US military operation targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities. Kimmitt praised President Donald Trump for employing what he called “deceit and trickery” in the strike.
“I found it quite fascinating and, honestly, impressive,” Kimmitt noted. He reflected on the complexities of the situation, mentioning that the two-week pause in actions was perplexing—many facets of negotiations remained unclear, especially regarding Iran’s expectations. In many respects, he likened it to a typical Trump deal and suggested it helped avert potential American casualties.
Trump announced that the US had targeted three of Iran’s nuclear sites, asserting that the nuclear enrichment facility had been “completely wiped out” during an address from the White House.
Cooper inquired about the potential ramifications for US military operations in the region. Kimmitt responded with concern, stating, “They should be very worried. The Iranians may be weakened, but they aren’t finished. Their proxy networks are still a threat, particularly with the presence of Iran-backed militias in Iraq, which could pose risks to US forces and infrastructure.”
Kimmitt previously served as Secretary of State for Political and Military Affairs under President George W. Bush.
Following the military action, which targeted three key Iranian nuclear facilities, Trump highlighted the success of the operation, emphasizing the goal of dismantling Iran’s nuclear capabilities. He stated, “Tonight I can report that the strike was a remarkable military achievement.”
The president added that Iran has been brought back to the negotiating table, indicating a need for peace amid the ongoing conflict.
He also hinted at the potential for a more extensive military response if Iran failed to engage in discussions.
