Giants’ Draft Night and Steve Tisch’s Future Plans
On draft night, cameras caught former co-owner of the New York Giants, Steve Tisch, in the team’s draft room. He was notably seen close to head coach John Harbaugh. Though he doesn’t hold a majority stake, Tisch serves as the chairman of the board.
Recently, ESPN obtained an NFL memo highlighting Tisch’s plans to transfer his shares in the Giants to a trust for his children. The mention of this trust isn’t the first; previous transfers had already been approved by the Finance Committee in 2023 and 2024. The memo stated, “The Sellers now propose to transfer all remaining interests in the Club, representing a total of 23.1%, to a trust…” After this maneuver, Tisch and his brother will have no ownership in the franchise.
Interestingly, it remains uncertain whether Tisch’s apparent connection to Epstein—which surfaced when the U.S. Department of Justice released files naming him over 400 times—has any bearing on recent events. Tisch acknowledged knowing Epstein, but firmly denied having ever visited the controversial island.
As for the Giants’ draft choices, they made headlines by selecting offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa with the 10th overall pick. It was, perhaps, an unexpected decision for many. Earlier, they also bolstered their defense by picking linebacker Arbel Reese at No. 5, who notched 6.5 sacks during his last season at Ohio State. This new addition will complement the team’s pass rush, joining the ranks of Brian Burns and Abdul Carter.
The Giants’ draft strategy certainly raised eyebrows, and it’ll be intriguing to see how these picks play out in the upcoming season.
