Controversy Surrounds Maine Senate Candidate Graham Platner
The former girlfriend of Graham Platner, who is running for the Senate in Maine, has made serious allegations against him. She claims he cheated on her fiancée and defended his Nazi-themed tattoo as a reminder that “America is an evil villain abroad.”
In conversation with a media outlet, she noted that Platner acknowledged the origins of his Totenkopf skull and crossbones tattoo, admitting he had betrayed his fiancée and damaged her image.
“As someone with leftist views, I immediately questioned him, asking, ‘Is that Totenkopf?’ He broke down and shared his story, claiming this tattoo was a burden he would carry forever, emphasizing his belief that America does bad abroad,” said the woman, who preferred to remain anonymous.
Last September, she even shared text exchanges with her mother and a friend talking about Platner’s tattoo. In one message, she stated, “You shouldn’t peek at the Nazi tattoo on his chest.”
A spokesperson for Platner’s campaign defended him, saying he acquired the tattoo in Croatia in memory of a friend who had died, and later covered it up, despite facing a barrage of questions about it.
The spokesperson also contrasted Platner’s transparency with his opponent Susan Collins, criticizing her for not addressing her vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh and her support for multiple foreign wars over the years.
Despite these accusations, Platner’s ex-girlfriend maintained that he had never been physically violent towards her. Platner, a Democrat, was nominated to challenge Collins just days after multiple women spoke out about troubling behavior during their relationships with him.
Lindsay Fifield, a conservative commentator who dated Platner from 2013 to 2015, added more fuel to the fire. She described instances where Platner seemed aggressive when discussing violence but clarified that he had never physically harmed her.
Fifield recounted, “He would say, ‘If anyone breaks in here, I’m going to rape them.'” She also mentioned an incident where Platner reportedly twisted her arm during an argument, confining her to a room until he “calmed down.”
Moreover, Fifield expressed skepticism regarding Platner’s claims of ignorance about the meaning of his tattoo, recalling how he sometimes referred to it as “my Totenkopf.” This echoed something a former acquaintance had also said.
Two other women who were in relationships with Platner suggested a consistent pattern of excessive drinking and infidelity. For example, Jenny Lacciotto criticized his “reckless” and “disturbing” behavior during their time together from 2019 to 2021.
