Jamal Simmons, Vice President Kamala Harris' former communications director, surprised a CNN panel on Sunday by suggesting that President Biden step down to allow Harris to become the first female president.
“Joe Biden is a phenomenal president who has made a lot of promises. He's a man in transition, and he has one promise left to make,” Simmons said on CNN's “State of the Union.” said. “He could resign as president within the next 30 days and make Kamala Harris president of the United States.”
The panel, including host Dana Bash, clearly responded to the idea.
He continued, “Then she won't have to oversee the evolution of her own defeat on January 6th, and Democrats will have to learn about drama and transparency and public outreach.'' It's definitely going to dominate the news at this point.'' It's time to change the whole outlook on how the Democratic Party operates. ”

“This has now jumped from an internet meme to a Sunday morning show,” Bash replied.
Fellow panel member and CNN commentator Scott Jennings said, “Jamal is here writing this season of House of Cards.”
When Bash asked Simmons about the possibility of Harris being nominated to the Supreme Court, Simmons reiterated that Harris should be the president.
“This is something that is within Joe Biden's control. If he does it, it will once again fulfill his last promise and give Kamala Harris the chance to become the 47th President of the United States. That's going to upset all of Donald Trump's tools, right? He needs to rebrand everything so that the next female president doesn't have to carry the weight of being the first. “Sure,” Simmons said.

Simmons also announced the idea on his X account.
“Joe Biden has been great, but he has to fulfill one last promise, and that is that it's a transition period. Biden should resign and make Kamala Harris the first female president. Then Trump The tables will turn, Kamala will no longer be in office on January 6th, and the next president will have an easier time.'Women should run,' Simmons wrote. “Democrats have better policies, but we must recognize that the old rules no longer apply. We are not playing ping pong. We are having a mixed martial arts match, and we must recognize that the People are reacting to drama and excitement, and we should use that to advocate for better policies.'' The way forward. ”
Simmons' comments came days after CNN commentators suggested that Justice Sonia Sotomayor should resign and be replaced by Harris, replacing Biden before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.
