First Lady Melania Trump Meets Freed Hostages at the White House
On February 4, 2026, First Lady Melania Trump welcomed Aviva and Keith Siegel, who were recently released from Hamas captivity, to the White House. The couple expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the support they received during their struggle for freedom.
Melania reminisced about her first emotional meeting with Aviva, who had been held hostage at Trump Tower for 51 days in early January 2024, while Keith remained imprisoned. Their story plays a significant part in Melania’s new film.
After their initial encounter, Melania shared two books Aviva gifted with her husband, then-president-elect Donald Trump, explaining the couple’s heartbreaking ordeal. Aviva and Keith were captured together, but they were separated when Aviva was freed in November 2023.
Finally, Keith was released on February 1, 2025, after spending 484 days in captivity. His release was part of a ceasefire agreement facilitated by the newly installed Trump administration.
“Aviva was a warrior. She’s a warrior too. She fought hard for Keith,” remarked Melania, turning to Keith. “And I know he was in a lot of pain. I’m glad to see you doing well at home with your children, grandchildren, and family.”
During his speech, Keith thanked Melania and her husband for their compassion. He reflected on the incredible mobilization for hostages, expressing how deeply it moved him and reinforced the importance of hope during such dark times. “Now I have regained my freedom and celebrated my first anniversary of freedom…I’ve partnered with IsraAID to help restore hope to others,” he shared.
Both Keith and Aviva expressed immense gratitude towards Melania for her ongoing support over the past year. Aviva mentioned, “It feels like I have come full circle to meet her again today…I am infinitely grateful for Mrs. Trump’s continued support during these two painful years.”
Sharing her experience, Aviva announced she is writing a book about her captivity and plans to dedicate it to her children, including a heartfelt message for the First Lady: “I will always remember meeting you.”
Keith expressed appreciation for Melania’s support for the families of hostages during their ordeal, emphasizing how her encouragement was vital during that challenging time.
