One undocumented immigrant, accused of raping and killing young Joselyn Nungarei before leaving her body in Houston’s Bayou, allegedly committed another sexual assault prior to this tragic event. A former district attorney has voiced concerns regarding her successor’s prosecutorial approach.
A year ago, during an investigation led by Democrat Kim Ogg into the gruesome murder of a 12-year-old, a woman came forward claiming that Franklin Jose Pena Ramos had assaulted her while she was vacationing in Costa Rica. The former DA spoke to Fox 26 Houston recently.
Ogg stated she had been aware of the rape allegations since late last year.
She expressed feeling compelled to act as she is “very worried about decisions” made by new Democrat DA Sean Tear, especially regarding the dismissal of multiple cases.
A spokesperson for Tear’s office did not respond promptly to a request for comment.
“It’s crucial for the public to have a say in this. Do they believe these individuals deserve the death penalty for Jocelyn’s murder and assault?” Ogg remarked.
Ogg also expressed concern about potential “backdoor deals” being made quietly. “I just want people to remember Jocelyn and consider the evidence before making any judgments,” she added.
The unidentified victim came to Ogg’s office after recognizing Pena’s image on television following the murder on June 16, 2024.
She recounted that Pena attacked her during her trip to Costa Rica, but when she reported the incident, local authorities did not take appropriate action.
Jocelyn’s mother, Alexis Nungarei, wasn’t shocked by this recent revelation but commented, “I’ve always felt this…especially about Pena.” She expressed her pain, saying, “It shatters a part of me to know this has happened to another woman.”
Alexis continued, “I pray that as other women endure similar vulnerabilities, they will find the strength and courage to come forward, shedding light on this ongoing case.”
