Former ICE agents being offered up to $50K in bonuses to return to the agency by Trump administration

The Trump administration is extending a bonus of as much as $50,000 to former Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, along with extra funds for deportation arrests, and is encouraging them to return to the agency.

An email, obtained by the Post, addressed to retired employees stated, “You have served the United States with distinction and honor. Now your country calls you to serve you again.”

The email also highlighted that, “The previous administration’s disastrous immigration policies have led ICE agents to face unprecedented challenges now. Your experience and unwavering commitment are extremely necessary to ensure our community and uphold our laws.”

This outreach to former personnel is labeled “Operation Return to Mission.”

Returning employees might serve in “Current Location and Previous Job Series” and could be eligible for beneficial bonuses. A $10,000 signature bonus is available for those who rejoin the service, with an additional $10,000 for applicants who apply by August 1. They can also earn $10,000 annually for participation in operational returns, potentially for as long as three years.

Moreover, there will be a “double coverage exemption” allowing former federal employees to keep their pension and benefits if they decide to leave again.

The email emphasized, “By returning to ICE, you provide our country with honorable and essential services.”

According to ICE, President Trump signed a significant new law on July 4th, enabling agencies to extensively expand their teams, starting with former colleagues.

This legislation has provided ICE with an additional $75 billion to enhance Trump’s efforts against illegal immigration, including $30 billion designated for arrest and deportation activities, plus $45 billion for growing detention capacity.

Job seekers can access the return to ICE’s mission website, where they can apply for roles such as “deportation officer” or “criminal investigator,” with salaries ranging from $88,000 to $171,000 annually.

The website clarifies that returning personnel will have “term appointments” lasting “more than one year, within four years.”

It concludes, “The Trump administration is fully committed to supporting dedicated law enforcement professionals who secure borders, protect communities, and ensure national security and public safety. This is a pivotal moment in our country’s history, and your experience and expertise are extremely necessary.”

ICE and the Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to inquiries from the Post.
