The former Mexican governor sent a series of letters to President Donald J. Trump warning of alleged ties with the new Mexican consul cartel in Miami. In the letter, politicians warned Trump to make the US State Department and the National Security Council appropriately check on the proposed diplomats due to his suspicious background.
In a letter receiving a copy of the Breitbart News Foundation, former Chiapas Governor Williams Oswald (Willy) Ochoa is another former governor, now a newly appointed Mexican consul in Miami, and a citizen of Florida and Chiapas. He claimed it was dangerous for him.
Ochoa, who served as a state and federal lawmaker and temporary governor in Chiapas, Mexico, gives diplomatic protections to individuals in relation to organized crime by allowing Rutilio Escandon Cadenas to serve as a consul. He insisted.
In his letter, he argued during his term as governor of Escandon from 2018 to 2024, “Chiapas has overwhelmed the security of the state and became a lawless land that unleashes an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.” did.
Ochoa claimed that during Escandon's tenure, individuals with ties to the terrorist groups Al-Qaeda, Hezbollah and the Fark Guerillas of Colombia could pass Chiapas on their way to the US.
According to Ochoa, Escandon's ties and favours for criminal organizations helped transform the state into a battlefield between Mexico's major cartels. The violence has driven away more than 15,000 individuals who were forced to flee their homes due to constant shootings, murders and tricks by drug cartels.
Escandon is from the Morena Party of Mexico and is the same party as President Claudia Sheinbaum and his predecessor, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
Mexico is now trying not to face a series of tariffs from the Trump administration over its failure to stop drug cartels and human smuggling.
Earlier this year, the Trump White House accused the Mexican government of working with the cartel as it is ready to impose a 25% tariff. The measure was delayed after Sheinbaum pledged to send 10,000 people to the border, according to Breitbart News.
