Former Governor Andrew Cuomo might be planning a return to the public eye after losing the 2024 mayoral race to Democratic Socialist Zoran Mamdani, but perhaps not in the way some might expect.

The 68-year-old Democrat is in discussions to host a weekly radio show on 77 WABC, as confirmed by the station’s owner, John Catsimatidis.

“I think he wants to do it. He wants to stay connected with people,” Catsimatidis shared, noting that the show was “in the works.”

During an interview with Cuomo on Sunday, Catsimatidis hinted he might also make an appearance on his own program, “Cats Roundtable.”

“I’ve heard that I might be speaking a little more on WABC radio in the near future,” he mentioned.

Cuomo, for his part, acknowledged the station’s broad audience, saying, “It’s really important that we understand what’s going on and inform the conversation, and your station is a great way to do that.”

Cuomo’s spokesperson, Richard Azzopardi, emphasized that the former governor intends to remain an active citizen, addressing critical issues like anti-Semitism and urban challenges. “He has views that over 900,000 New Yorkers supported in the last election,” Azzopardi added. “He will continue to share his insights on WABC and other platforms.”

Catsimatidis, however, didn’t confirm whether Cuomo would be compensated for the show, noting the former governor doesn’t necessarily need the money from radio to get involved.

Cuomo generated $4.7 million in 2024 through his legal consulting ventures.

After he left office in 2021, Cuomo had a short stint hosting his own podcast.

Following the departure of his Republican opponent from last year’s election, Cuomo may take to WABC’s airwaves, as Curtis Sliwa moved to iHeartMedia’s 710WOR amid disputes over the campaign dynamics. Sliwa objected to suggestions that Republicans step aside to aid Cuomo’s chances against Mamdani.

Cuomo ran as an independent while Mamdani stayed on the Democratic ticket, ultimately defeating the former governor in a ranked primary before being sworn in as mayor this month.
