Former NFL player Antonio Brown attends court for attempted murder charges

Antonio Brown Appears in Court After Extradition

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown made an appearance in a New Jersey court on Friday, just a day after being extradited from Dubai to face charges of attempted murder.

These serious charges are connected to an incident in Miami that occurred in May, involving the same individual who had waved a Palestinian flag during Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance at the Super Bowl earlier this year.

Zulkarnain Kwame Nantambu was arrested in June on various charges, including resisting police and disturbing the peace. A connection between the shooting and the Super Bowl event has since been explored.

“We’ve been waiting for this news for a long time and are looking forward to our day in court. My client appreciates the efforts of the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the State Attorney’s Office, and the U.S. Marshals for bringing this serious situation to justice,” stated Richard L. Cooper, Nantambu City Attorney, following Brown’s return to the United States.

Brown will be detained at Essex County Jail in New Jersey until he can be picked up by authorities from Florida.

Social media videos have surfaced showing Brown involved in a confrontation after a boxing event at Addin Ross in May. The event featured a 10-match card and was hosted by a popular streamer.

In one clip, Brown appeared to struggle in a parking lot as a crowd surged toward an alley. Moments later, gunshots were reportedly heard, prompting spectators to flee.

During the altercation, Brown admitted to “hitting” a security guard, and reportedly told one of the responding officers, “I didn’t do anything.” The following month, reports surfaced indicating that a warrant had been issued for Brown’s arrest.

Brown has faced multiple legal troubles in the past. He was accused of rape and sexual misconduct in 2019, although he eventually reached settlements with those claimants. Additionally, he pled no contest to felony assault and theft charges in June 2020. Just last year, he was arrested again for allegedly failing to pay child support.
