Former NFL Player Kevin Johnson Found Dead

Kevin Johnson, a former NFL defensive lineman known for his time with the Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders in the 1990s, was tragically found dead in Los Angeles at the age of 55.

Authorities reported that his body was discovered on Wednesday in a homeless encampment. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office indicated that his death resulted from blunt head trauma along with multiple stab wounds.

Currently, the case is being treated as a homicide. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has been contacted for additional information regarding the incident.

“Sadly, it seems he was homeless,” noted Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve De Jong, who mentioned that Johnson apparently lived at the location where he was found.

Friends and family members are sharing their grief on social media, reflecting on Johnson’s life and legacy.

Johnson first gained attention at Texas Southern University before being drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 1993 NFL Draft. Interestingly, he never played for the Patriots and had to wait until 1995 for his NFL debut with the Eagles.

During his two seasons with the Eagles, he participated in 23 games, recording 43 tackles and generating seven sacks. Additionally, he was credited with returning a fumble for a touchdown. In 1997, he joined the Raiders, putting up 11 tackles that season over the course of 15 games.

After his NFL career, Johnson transitioned to arena football, playing for the Orlando Predators and contributing to their victory in the 1998 Arena Bowl. He later played for the Los Angeles Avengers.
