Analyzing President Trump’s Impact on the Republican Party in National Primaries

President Donald Trump continues to wield significant influence within the Republican primaries, with all his endorsed candidates prevailing in the 2026 primary season. Feeley, endorsed by Trump in a video shortly before the primary, described him as a “true America First conservative” and encouraged voters to back him in the July 21 election. Additionally, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has included Feeley in its MAGA Majority initiative aimed at helping America First candidates in crucial states.

As the primary heated up, it became increasingly contentious. Czaplik accused Feeley on social media of “importing Haitians,” suggesting that Feeley’s remarks were racially charged and personally directed at his own family. Feeley responded, clarifying that his humanitarian efforts to assist young Haitian men were not politically motivated, stating he considers them family.

Feeley is now set to advance to the general election in a closely watched race, as Republicans strive to hold onto Schweikert’s seat while Democrats see a chance to capitalize on the open contest in a district known for its competitiveness in recent years.

On the Democratic side, notable candidates include former state Representative Amish Shah and former TV news anchor Marlene Galan-Woods, among others vying for the nomination in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District.
