Former French Police Officer Charged with Double Murder
A former police officer from France has been charged with killing his girlfriend and her previous partner after allegedly kidnapping a woman along with her children.
Cédric Prison, 42, who used to work in Paris, was taken into custody by authorities in Portugal on Tuesday. Reports indicate that police discovered him there with his two children, a 12-year-old boy and an 18-month-old girl. Interestingly, he had previously lost his parental rights.
On Wednesday, officials unearthed “two bodies buried in a secluded area.” Authorities reportedly found $20,000 in cash, forged documents, license plates, and a pump-action shotgun at the scene, according to sources from the National Republican Guard (GNR).
During an inspection, a driver presented documents that prompted suspicion. Authorities confirmed they were fake and noted that firearms were in his possession without legal documentation.
Police identified the bodies as those of the suspect’s partner and ex-partner. While the victims were initially unconfirmed, the High Council of Justice later identified them as Audrey Cavalier and Angela Cadillac.
Prison now faces charges of aggravated murder, corpse desecration, and kidnapping. Interestingly, he’s not a stranger to serious allegations, having previously been sentenced to four life terms for other offenses.
The two women had been missing for about a week, prompting French police to start searching for Prison. It was noted that his ex-partner didn’t report to work, and his son was marked absent from school. In a concerning turn, His current partner also went missing alongside her infant.
Authorities have stated that the two children will be sent back to France. Additionally, a Portuguese judge has imposed a ban on any communication between the former officer and children. One woman remarked that while she thought Prison was “staying calm,” she hadn’t anticipated he would go to such extremes.
