Ohio Long Snapper Arrested for Domestic Violence
Michael Roen McCullough, a 25-year-old long snapper from Ohio, was arrested early Friday morning for allegedly attacking his girlfriend. According to police reports, McCullough was taken into custody in Columbus around 1:30 a.m. and is currently held at the Franklin County Correctional Center on a charge of strangulation.
The situation unfolded when police responded to a domestic violence call. The woman involved claimed she had been assaulted by McCullough during a heated argument. She reported that he punched her multiple times and choked her, stating that she was struggling to breathe, which understandably led to panic.
Further details from court records indicate that the altercation resulted in the woman losing consciousness before they returned home. Additionally, it was reported that McCullough allegedly destroyed her phone during the incident.
McCullough had been a walk-on at Ohio State from 2018 to 2020, eventually recognized for his skills as one of the top long snappers nationally. His performance earned him acclaim, but this recent legal trouble casts a shadow over his athletic career.
As of now, Ohio State has not provided any comments regarding the arrest. McCullough has faced challenges in the past, including a severe car accident that resulted in the loss of his right eye in 2024. He had previously announced a medical retirement from football in 2021.
