Prince Andrew Relinquishes Titles for Daughters’ Protection
Royal experts suggest that former Prince Andrew stepped down from his title not for personal reasons, but to safeguard his daughters’ royal lives. British broadcaster Helena Chard remarked that he held on until the very end, as he was determined not to let his daughters be stripped of their royal status.
Chard noted Andrew’s commitment to promoting his daughters within the royal family. She pointed out his anger when they lost security in 2011 due to not being senior working royals. This illustrates how fiercely he would fight to protect them. It’s believed that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s titles will remain intact despite Andrew’s recent changes.
Prince Andrew’s Title Withdrawal Backed by King Charles
Chard added that Andrew’s daughters will be released from any confusion associated with their father’s decisions. Chard’s comments coincided with reports suggesting that both daughters agreed to forgo certain titles as long as they retained their princess titles and line of succession.
They will continue to embrace the role of royal advisers, with Beatrice being one of the seven advisers eligible if King Charles is temporarily unable to fulfill his duties.
Prince Andrew Excluded from Royal Duties
In a significant move, King Charles III recently stripped Andrew of his royal title and moved him out of the Royal Lodge, following ongoing pressure regarding his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew previously lived in a 30-room mansion near Windsor Castle with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, who will also need to vacate her title of Duchess of York as a result.
Chard labelled the situation as part of a strategic negotiation by the king. She emphasized that, despite their father’s current turmoil, Beatrice and Eugenie have held onto their status and continue to have support from King Charles, ensuring their future remains secure.
The royal sisters remain active in their charitable roles. For instance, Beatrice participated in an event with her uncle, Prince Edward, and Eugenie took part in a Kings Foundation celebration.
Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner remarked on Andrew’s protective nature toward his family, which has heightened his concern about their safety following this significant loss of status. Allegations against Andrew related to his ties with Epstein continue to linger, particularly in light of claims made by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who recently passed away. Amidst this, Andrew insists on his innocence.
Going forward, Andrew is set to relocate to the King’s Sandringham estate, with added support from his brother. Chard cautioned that Beatrice and Eugenie need to distance themselves to preserve their reputation within the royal family.
