Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Arrested for Misconduct
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was previously known as Prince Andrew and is the brother of King Charles III, was taken into custody on Thursday. This was due to allegations of misconduct in public office.
According to Thames Valley Police, they arrested a man in his 60s from Norfolk around 8 a.m.
Misconduct in public office is a serious charge in England and Wales, potentially leading to a life sentence.
BBC confirmed his arrest, while a police vehicle was seen arriving at the apartment complex where he resides.
Assistant Constable Oliver Wright stated, “We have started an investigation into the allegation of misconduct in public office after a detailed inquiry. We recognize the public interest in this case and will share updates as necessary.”
Recently, the U.S. Department of Justice mentioned that it is reviewing allegations linked to documents within the Epstein files.
Wright elaborated last week, saying, “Thames Valley Police is actively assessing allegations relating to misconduct in public office, specifically tied to the Epstein files at the U.S. Department of Justice.”
Mountbatten-Windsor served as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment from 2001 to 2011.
In response to the news, King Charles III expressed deep concern regarding Andrew’s alleged misconduct in public office, mentioning that the royal family supports a thorough investigation.
Overall, misconduct in public office remains a serious legal matter, with potential sentences being quite severe.
