On Wednesday, his family released a statement. They announced that he died from complications after a bad fall.

He “died due to complications from a fall. He was 82 years old. His beloved wife, Hadassah, and his family attended his death,” his family said.

Mr. Lieberman spent 24 years in the Senate. Along the way, he was selected by former Vice President Al Gore as his running mate in the 2000 presidential election. But that ticket was lost to George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

Shortly before his death, he was recruiting candidates to run for his centrist third party, No Labels.
