Former Stripper Crystal Mangum Admits She Lied About Duke Lacrosse Players Raping Her in 2006

Crystal Mangum, the former stripper who shocked the nation in 2006 by accusing a white member of the Duke University lacrosse team of raping her, has finally admitted that she lied about the incident.

Shocking confession revealed in prison interview on podcast Let's talk to Kat. At that time, Magnum admitted to deception, but fox news Reported.

“I gave false testimony against them, saying they raped me when they didn't, and that was a mistake. I owe the trust of many others who believed me. I betrayed him,” Mangeum explained. “[I] I wanted validation from people, not God, so I made up stories that weren't true. ”

Mangum was convicted of killing her boyfriend in 2011 and is currently in prison. In 2013, she was sentenced to nearly 18 years in prison for second-degree murder in the case.

The convict made national news in 2006 when she accused team members of raping her while she was hired to perform at a party for the Duke lacrosse team. As a result of this accusation, several team members were arrested and charged with assault, and the university was forced to cancel the entire lacrosse season.

In the end, David Evans, Colin Finnerty and Reid Seligman were acquitted, but the case did not make the headlines or become the focus of race baiters.

However, despite the verdict, then-Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong maintained the players were guilty and consistently maintained that a “racially motivated” rape occurred.

“The information I have allows me to conclude that a rape actually occurred,” Nifong said at the time. “The circumstances of the rape showed that there was a deep racial motive on the part of the act that was committed. It made the crime one of the most offensive and invasive by its very nature. It makes me even more so.”

But Nifong was disqualified a year later after investigators discovered he had conspired to hide DNA evidence that could have exonerated the players. Many of his previous lawsuits were also reviewed, and some were found to have been filed in violation of due process. And in one case, a murder conviction was overturned thanks to Nifong's negligence.

Since the Duke incident, Mangum has racked up a list of arrests and convictions. After the Duke incident, and before being sentenced for murder, Mangum was found guilty of setting her home on fire while leaving her three children inside. She was also ordered to stay away from her children for several years. She had a criminal history prior to the Duke incident, including an arrest for grand theft auto.
