A male figure skating coach, previously associated with Team USA’s Amber Glenn, faces allegations of sexual crimes involving two former students.
The individual, identified as 47-year-old Benjamin Schlotz, has been arrested. NBC News reported that he was taken into custody and processed at a jail in Collin County, Texas, on Wednesday. The allegations involve two victims, one of whom is a minor.
Authorities have charged Schlotz with one count of sexual assault and one count of indecency with a child.
“Mr. Schlotz has previously worked with Olympian Amber Glenn, who is set to participate in the 2026 Milan-Cortina Games,” according to the report.
He has been barred from coaching and prohibited from contacting the alleged victim or their family, as noted by FOX 4.
Schlotz has been a long-time member of the Dallas Figure Skating Club. In a communication to club members, President Mary Pottenger emphasized the seriousness of the allegations.
“It’s also necessary to clarify the club’s role. The Dallas Figure Skating Club doesn’t hire or supervise coaches. All coaching is done independently, with families making arrangements directly with the coaches,” she mentioned.
Meanwhile, Michelle Simpson Tugel, a lawyer representing the victims, stated she anticipates police will examine the suspect’s electronic devices, as reported by Fox.
“I often advise parents and young athletes to review all communications with the coach. Sometimes parents think their child isn’t in contact when, in fact, they are,” she elaborated.
According to Breitbart News, Glenn describes herself as a “woke bitch” and finished 13th in her singles event at the Milan-Cortina Olympics.
Though Glenn identifies as bisexual and pansexual and was considered a strong medal contender in the women’s singles, she faced challenges during her performance. After completing a triple axel, she failed to execute the required triple loop, resulting in a zero score in the technical component,” the report stated.
