President-elect Donald Trump announced Friday that former White House adviser Sebastian Gorka will serve in his next administration.
Trump, 78 years old Revealed in a post by Truth Social Mr. Gorka serves as deputy assistant to the president and senior director of counterterrorism.
“Since 2015, Dr. Gorka has been a tireless champion of the America First Agenda and the MAGA movement,” the president-elect wrote.
“Dr. Gorka is a legal immigrant to the United States and has over 30 years of experience in the national security field,” Trump added.
Gorka, 54, was born in London to Hungarian immigrant parents. He lived in Hungary from 1992 to 2008 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2012.
He served as White House strategist during President Trump's first term, but was ousted from the White House in August 2017, just seven months after the inauguration.
At the time, conservative agitators accused Trump of being ousted by “forces” opposed to his “MAGA pledge.”
Retired General John Kelly, now a vocal critic of President Trump, had just taken over as White House chief of staff when Gorka left office.
Even after leaving 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Mr. Gorka continued to support Mr. Trump on radio shows, podcasts and regular appearances on cable news programs.
In 2022, Mr. Gorka sued the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol, alleging that the committee sought to obtain Mr. Gorka's phone records.
A former White House adviser admitted watching President Trump's speech at the Ellipse on the day of the riot and denounced the committee's subpoena as a “partisan fishing expedition.”
President Trump said in his announcement that his relationship with Gorka began in 2015 when he served as “one of my advisors for the primary Republican debate on national security.”
“At the time, he was serving as the Maj. Gen. Matthew C. Horner Professor of Military Theory at the Maritime University Foundation and a visiting instructor at the JFK Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg,” President Trump said.

“Prior to that, he was associate dean for Congressional Affairs and Special Operations Community Relations at the National Defense University and a Kokkalis Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, where he was recognized for his work in counterterrorism. He received the Department of Defense Joint Civilian Service Award from USSOCOM.”
In recent social media posts, Gorka blasted the “deep state,” accusing unelected officials of trying to sabotage Trump's first term, and accused Trump of trying to sabotage Trump's first term in office. expressed strong concerns about the possibility of selecting FBI agent Mike Rogers to head the bureau.
