Trump Hosts Ravens Players at Baltimore Event

President Donald Trump is, in many people’s eyes, still the greatest sports president ever.

On Tuesday, four players from the Baltimore Ravens joined him at Tradepoint Atlantic in Baltimore County. The players—cornerback Marlon Humphrey, kicker Tyler Loop, punter Ryan Eckley, and long snapper Nick Moore—were at an event highlighting a $3.7 billion investment from Anduril Industries to produce components for nuclear-powered submarines.

The facility is expected to create around 3,100 direct jobs, and Trump’s visit is part of a broader effort to showcase investments in factories leading up to the midterm elections on November 8.

The event occurred just two days after the Ravens’ tight end Durham Smythe, along with quarterback Lamar Jackson, sustained injuries during their recent 24-18 win over the Tennessee Titans. In a light-hearted moment, Trump took a moment to ask the players to convey his regards to their “little bit injured” quarterback, Jackson.

Interestingly, Marlon Humphrey shared a video of himself driving with Trump, jokingly asking if his followers knew the president and referencing Trump’s billionaire status. It seems, despite the narrative of animosity between athletes and Trump, the reality shows NFL players enjoying time with him.

This whole situation got me thinking—there has been a persistent media narrative suggesting that professional athletes don’t like Trump. But here we have NFL players smiling alongside the president. It almost serves as a reminder that what sports fans have recognized for some time is that sometimes the media gets it wrong.
