Robbery Suspects Escape from Jail After Assaulting Guard
In Sugar Land, Texas, police reported that early Sunday morning, around 2 a.m., four men attacked a CVS employee on Club River Road in Greatwood, making off with a bag of cash. The store clerk sustained minor injuries but didn’t need hospitalization. Fortunately, the suspects were quickly identified and apprehended.
However, as a correctional officer checked on one of the detainees later that afternoon—around 4:50 p.m.—he was assaulted when he opened the cell door. This incident led to the suspects helping each other escape.
Eventually, the four individuals—19-year-old Edmound Guillory, 18-year-old Devonte Simon, and two 17-year-olds, Deshawn Dillard and Clayton Johnson—were located and arrested again around 6:20 p.m. They were reportedly found at the First Colony Church of Christ.
The guard involved in the incident was taken to the hospital but is reported to be in stable condition.
All four suspects will now be transported to Fort Bend County Jail. Alongside their initial robbery charges, they now face additional charges ranging from escape to attempted murder.
Public responses on social media have not been forgiving. Many commenters expressed their frustrations, with comments like, “Get rid of these idiots,” and suggestions for parental involvement in guiding youth. Others voiced their outrage, calling them “thugs” and sending prayers to the injured officer. One person simply stated, “I hope they get the justice they deserve!” The sentiment that they can’t be trusted in society was echoed throughout the discussions.
