Tragic Fire Claims Lives of Four Young Sisters in North Carolina
In a devastating incident, four young sisters, aged two to seven, lost their lives in a fire that engulfed their home in Chadborn around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday. The girls, identified as Kendall, Kalani, Josie, and Sophie, perished in the flames alongside two other girls from North Carolina, both aged 12.
Authorities stated that there were no adults present in the home at the time of the fire, though details about the whereabouts of their families were not disclosed.
Fortunately, two 12-year-old sisters, named Winter, managed to escape the blaze and sought help when one of the younger girls was trapped inside.
“Given the intensity of the fire, we could not enter the home safely,” Columbus County Sheriff Bill Rogers explained during a press briefing.
The exact cause of the fire remains unclear, and authorities have not provided any further information regarding potential charges. It’s worth noting that there isn’t a specific age limit in North Carolina concerning when children can be left alone.
“Our community is grappling with an unimaginable tragedy,” remarked both Sheriff Rogers and Firefighter Blackman in a joint statement.
“We encourage everyone to come together to support the families and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this incredibly challenging time.”
To assist the victims’ families, a GoFundMe page has been set up and has raised over $3,000.
The organizers of the fundraiser, Anthlee Hayes and B. Tyler Grainger, shared the somber news about the sisters’ untimely passing, highlighting the profound joy and love they brought to their families and everyone who knew them.
In remembrance, an online tribute described the girls as bright spirits who brought happiness to those around them. They enjoyed outdoor activities, whether by the pool or at the beach, relishing in the sun or even cloudy days. Their happiest moments were often spent singing, dancing, and sharing treats like strawberries and grapes.
“Each girl had a unique light. Kalani loved sunsets, Kendall adored rainbows, and Josie never turned down pizza,” reminisced the tribute. “They cherished their church, friends, and family. Although their time on Earth was brief, their love and energy will live on in the hearts of all who knew them.”
