Fox and Disney team up to combine new ESPN and FOX One streaming services.

ESPN and Fox are teaming up to offer a streaming package priced at $39.99, set to launch on October 2nd, as announced on Monday.

This package provides subscribers with access to a diverse array of sports, news, and entertainment content from both networks.

The collaboration will feature ESPN’s subscription service alongside Fox One, starting on the same day. Fox One is Fox Corp’s new streaming service.

Fox Corp. operates alongside the Post’s parent company, News Corp.

While ESPN’s streaming service and Fox One will be available individually beginning August 21st, both companies are advertising the bundle as a cost-effective option for fans looking to avoid traditional cable subscriptions.

Shawn Breen, an executive vice president at Disney Platform Distribution, stated that this partnership aims to make ESPN’s sports offerings more accessible.

“Collaborating with Fox One on this bundle will help us deliver ESPN’s premium sports content to a broader audience in a more innovative way,” Breen noted, emphasizing the goal of reaching audiences “anytime, anywhere.”

Tony Billette, Senior Vice President at Fox, mentioned that ESPN is the first partner for Fox One, calling the bundle an excellent opportunity for value and convenience.

“Viewers will have access to a fantastic range of content with this bundle, including NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, NHL games, and even the FIFA World Cup,” Billette shared.

He also pointed out the ongoing effort to enhance streaming experiences, particularly for dedicated sports fans.

The ESPN platform will include all major channels, such as ESPN, ESPN2, and SEC Network, alongside ESPN+ and its various extras.

ESPN estimates that its service will feature around 47,000 live events each year, along with original programming and coverage that expands its NFL offerings.

Fox One will compile both live and on-demand content from its various platforms into a single accessible service.

This lineup includes channels like Fox News Channel, Fox Sports, and more.

Additionally, users have the option to add other services like Fox Nation and Big Ten Network B1G+ to their subscriptions.

Fox noted that this is the first instance allowing viewers who have cut the cord or lack cable packages to stream all Fox properties live in one location.

The service will use technology from Tubi Media Group to offer personalized recommendations and integrate programming seamlessly.

This new bundle is being introduced less than a year after the dissolution of Venu Sports, a prior joint venture involving ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery.

Venu, which was announced in February 2024, aimed to centralize national sports rights but faced significant legal hurdles, ultimately leading to its cancellation.

With that idea scrapped, ESPN and Fox are now opting for a simpler partnership in the form of this new streaming bundle.

Observers in the industry are viewing this ESPN/Fox bundle as a streamlined revival of the Venu Sports concept, consolidating premium sports content into one subscription, albeit without Warner Bros. Discovery’s involvement.

The two companies are keen on providing their customers with more flexibility through these new services.
