6th annual fox nation The Patriot Awards will be broadcast Sunday night at 10pm ET on FOX News Channel. Ahead of this historic event, FOX News Digital visited the Tills Center for the Performing Arts in Brookville, New York, and asked attendees what patriotism means to them.
The Patriot Awards was hosted by Sean Hannity and featured an appearance by President-elect Donald Trump. Participants from all walks of life seemed to share a deep love for America, and many were quick to explain why patriotism is so important to them.
“Patriotism means respecting the military, respecting the military, standing for the national anthem, and being proud to be an American because this is the greatest country and everyone is here. You should feel honored to live there,” the female university student replied.

Another participant said, “It doesn't matter what your background is, black, white, Hispanic, it means everything. We come together, we work hard, and we want the best for everyone.”
One person told FOX News Digital that patriotism means “freedom,” “being a good person,” “independence,” respect for the military, loyalty and simply loving your country. The man, who served as a firefighter for 27 years, said patriotism is synonymous with “freedom.” Press.
“I will be able to speak freely,” he said.
Many Patriot Awards attendees pointed to Trump's Election Day victory as the answer.
“If Trump had lost, this country would have ended,” one woman said.
“We're going to get this country right again,” Trump promised a roaring audience as he accepted the prestigious Patriot Award at the Tills Center.

Another attendee said patriotism meant “everything” to him.
“I'm talking about patriotism and freedom… and on the other hand, I'm talking about communism,” he said.
