Fox News easily won the ratings battle for election night coverage, surpassing rivals CNN and MSNBC in viewership of presidential election results for the second year in a row.
Fox News drew 10.3 million viewers Tuesday from 8 to 11 p.m. ET, according to Nielsen data.
Its viewership was more than double that of CNN, and it fell below MSNBC for the first time on election night.
MSNBC's coverage, anchored by Rachel Maddow, averaged 6 million viewers, topping CNN's 5.1 million viewers.
CNN, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, lost nearly half of its 9.6 million viewers during the 2020 presidential election.
On Fox News, the coverage, anchored by Bret Baier and Martha McCollum, was slightly down from its record 13.8 million viewers in 2020.
MSNBC was down from 7.3 million viewers in 2020.
Of the broadcast networks, ABC had 5.7 million viewers, NBC 5.3 million and CBS 3.5 million viewers Tuesday, Nielsen said.
Overall, TV ratings for former President Trump's victory over Vice President Kamala Harris declined sharply over the last presidential election cycle.
Across the 18 networks measured, 42.3 million viewers tuned into election coverage, down 25% from 2020, Nielsen said. Results were not called for many days during that cycle. In the end, Democrat Joe Biden was declared the winner over then-incumbent Trump.
This time, most news outlets declared Trump the winner early Wednesday morning.
The decline in viewership is due to viewers moving away from traditional television, especially those under 50, who are getting their news from streaming and social media.
On the streaming side, FOX News' digital site announced that it had 47.2 million views between 6pm and 3am ET.
MSNBC's YouTube channel has reached a record high of 30 million video views, the company announced.
According to MSNBC, the company's Kornacki Cam, which provides ongoing voting analysis by journalist Steve Kornacki, has received more than 9 million video views on YouTube.
