Fox News correspondent Jackie Heinrich on Friday helped expose the Biden administration’s hypocrisy on the border crisis.
In January, the Supreme Court It ruled that Border Patrol agents can: Texas authorities cut razor wire installed to prevent immigrants from entering the United States illegally. Government officials claimed the barrier prevented Border Patrol agents from acting in emergencies.
But Border Patrol officials still had not removed the razor wire, and White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was woefully unprepared to answer questions about that inconvenient fact.
“Does the government believe that a physical border barrier will work?” Heinrich asked Jean-Pierre.
“Can you say more? What do you mean? Where did this come from?” the spokesperson replied.
“Now, six weeks after you won the Supreme Court case that allowed the removal of razor wire at the Texas border, you argued that there was an emergency and that it needed to be removed immediately. . But it’s still going on. So DHS isn’t doing anything. It’s not touching it,” Heinrich explained. “Why are you still awake?”
Cornered with the truth, Jean-Pierre refused to answer questions. And despite having previously bragged about razor wire from the podium in the James S. Brady press conference room, Jean-Pierre told Heinrich to go to the Department of Homeland Security if he wanted answers.
Unfortunately for Jean-Pierre, he wasn’t done being a Fox News reporter yet.
In a follow-up question, Heinrich further dug into President Joe Biden’s statement that executive action cannot be taken to stop the immigration crisis. In fact, Biden claimed He said his hands are tied and any solution requires Congressional action.
But as Mr. Heinrich pointed out, Mr. Biden “Conducted approximately 94 enforcement actions in the first 100 days As a result, immigration policies were significantly relaxed. ”
“So why isn’t the president doing what he said right after he took office when he said it was time to reverse some of the policies he put in place?” Heinrich asked.
Completely defeated, Mr. Jean-Pierre responded with proven (and untrue) points.Mr. Biden took action “Over and over again,” the real blame lies with Republicans for a border crisis that has gotten completely out of control.
“You used the executive order when you wanted to use it,” Heinrich fact-checked.
But Jean-Pierre refused to concede defeat and continued to blame “shameful” Republicans and Congress for a problem exacerbated by Biden’s rollback of Trump-era immigration policies.
“But all the while he’s shaming people by not acting, but at the same time not acting,” Heinrich pointed out.
“It’s really unfortunate. That’s completely false. He took action. He took action,” Jean-Pierre insisted, without mentioning any such “action.”
