Francisco Lindor’s frustration was palpable on Saturday night, both during the game and afterward.

The shortstop for the Mets committed errors that resulted in two runs across two different innings. After the last play, he returned to the dugout and slammed his gloves in disgust.

“You know, every year has moments like this for me, but it’s just that this time, it happened in the dugout,” Lindor reflected after the Mets lost 7-4 at American Family Field. “I really need to improve and support my teammates. I must finish the plays I start.”

When pitcher Frankie Montas loaded the bases with two outs, Joey Ortiz hit a chopper that caused Lindor to mishandle the ball, leading to those two runs.

“That play was on me,” Lindor admitted.

He expressed disappointment for not being able to help Montas maintain a 1-0 lead for the Mets.

“That’s what frustrates me. Montas did everything right, and I couldn’t back him up,” Lindor said.

Montas, who threw 72 pitches over three innings, took over from opener Reed Garrett. He felt satisfied with his effort even though he allowed three runs, noting that he’d given up 12 runs in his previous outings.

“We were making the right pitches today; we felt we were attacking the zone,” Montas said. “Aside from that home run to Brice Turang in the fourth, I thought I pitched well.”

In other team news, Tylor Megill may begin his minor league rehab this week. He’s recovering from right elbow inflammation and threw a live batting practice session on Friday.

Team officials expect to have an update on his rehabilitation progress in a few days.

Cedric Mullins made significant contributions, going 3-for-3 and reaching base three times for the first time since joining the Mets at the trade deadline; he had been hitless in his last 12 at-bats.

Meanwhile, Paul Blackburn’s next steps in his rehabilitation process are still being determined. He pitched for Triple-A Syracuse last Friday as part of what might be his final rehab stint after dealing with a shoulder injury.
