Francisco Lindor homers twice as Mets survive rally to beat Phillies

Francisco Lindor will be the best Mets to make this season a success at home.

The Mets shortstop struggling on the road was Superman at Citifield.

On Monday night, he continued to save the Metropolis, winning the Phillies 5-4, expanding his winning streak to five games.

Lindor’s three-run explosion in the seventh gave the Mets the final run. He also homed the leadoff for the second day in a row. All five of Lindor’s Homer’s players have been hits at home this season.

“The crowd helped a lot,” Lindor said.

Lindor’s explosion queued the Nice Mets’ start in the first real-measuring stick series of the season, or in the rematch of last year’s NLDS (the Mets won in four games).

The Mets (16-7) began the season by winning 10 of their 11 games at Citifield. Lindor owns .467 OPS on the road, but at home the number is 1.248.

“This is the guy they’re there if you look at the end of the year numbers,” coach Carlos Mendoza said. “If he continues to do what Francisco Lindor is doing, don’t be surprised if he hits the road here. He’s a good player. He’s hot right now. He happens to be playing at home.”

Linder jumped on a 2-2 knuckle curve from Aaron Nora and hit it on the right field sheet. Lindor joined Curtis Granderson (2017) and Kaz Matsui (2004) as the only Mets player with a leadoff homer on consecutive days.

“I’m just going to see everyone and walk past the baton, so I’m going to credit everyone,” Lindor said. “As I’ve been saying, I have one of the best batters in the game [Juan Soto] I’m behind me so let them do their job. I’m focusing on my process and trying to pass it on to them. ”

Jesse Winker was second home, giving the Mets a 2-0 lead. This season was Turnooker’s first homer. Turnooker took part in the game with anemia .581 OPS.

Tylor Megill pitched a scoreless inning of 5¹/₃ and reduced his ERA to 1.09 on the night he scored his career with 10 strikeouts. Right-handed only allowed one hit.

The Phillies got their best chance against Megill in the third time. They loaded the bass into bloop singles and two walks. However, Megill gathered to hit Kyle Schwarber.

Soto rounded the base in three innings for the apparent three-run homer. However, a review of the replay caused Soto’s shot to the right field to hook a foul just before pole. Soto then retired and the Mets went scoreless on the frame as Pete Alonso and Brandon Nemo attacked.

Reed Garrett hit JT Realmuto to finish sixth in a Thai run at base. Garrett entered after Megill retired from Schwarber following a leadoff walk to Bryce Harper.

In the seventh, Louis Sangel Ackna singled, and Brett Baty walked to finish Nora’s outing. Jose Lewis hit Tyrone Taylor with Fielder’s choice. The hustle to ensure he wasn’t doubled in one base to finish Taylor’s innings was not noted by Lindor and Mendoza.

“My batting won’t come in any way unless Tyrone runs the bass as hard as possible,” Lindor said. “You’re going to beat it.”

Lindor was followed by fired a 95 mph fastball at the center field fence, giving the Mets a 5-0 lead.

“He’s not missing the pitch. He’s dumping some tough pitches,” Mendoza said. “Now he’s taking them, and when he gets the pitch in the strike zone, he’s missing.”

Max Cranick returned to the mound for the ninth – his third job inning – but allowed three hits before Edwin Diaz was summoned for a save. Diaz surrendered Homer to Bryson Stott and then attacked Trea Turner and Harper to finish it.
