After the assassination of a notorious drug lord, a luxury destination in Mexico has devolved into chaos, prompting affluent vacationers to escape by boat.
This week, wealthy tourists abandoned Puerto Vallarta via the sea as its airport was closed and barricades were erected by narco-terrorists throughout Jalisco.
An insider reported that officials from California Post employed armed mercenaries to transport vacationers to ports, where they then chartered boats to Cabo before flying back to the U.S.
Mexican special forces eliminated cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes in a raid early Sunday, turning the area into a militarized zone.
The once-bustling tourist hub of Puerto Vallarta became a scene of violence, with burned vehicles littering the streets and tourists stuck in hotels.
Sources familiar with security operations in the region shared that business has surged lately, with many profiting from extracting individuals. They further noted, “The primary escape route involved ferrying people from Puerto Vallarta to Cabo and then onto commercial flights.”
One consultant mentioned that most of their clients were affluent families, some with ex-wives or children in timeshares—perhaps even individuals with ties to U.S. politics.
They explained, “There’s a lot of money to be made, but it’s risky. The federal government is now regulating these operations. If someone is caught without proper authorization or armed, it could lead to federal consequences.”
“It’s the Mexican Wilderness,” they added, observing that security and extraction services are flourishing. There’s a stark humor in saying the American Dream has shifted from Florida to Mexico.
Many mercenaries are conducting operations in hazardous conditions, and the situation has grown increasingly difficult with cartel barricades springing up all over Jalisco.
“Navigating to town has become challenging,” they noted, commenting that it’s not just military opposition but also the direct influence of cartels in law enforcement.
Oseguera Cervantes, referred to as “El Mencho,” was tracked down and killed after intelligence identified one of his associates at a secluded resort.
Authorities discovered the woman had led them to Tapalpa, a mountainous retreat in Jalisco, where Oseguera and his entourage were hiding.
While the women left the resort, El Mencho and his crew remained onsite until special forces arrived to apprehend them.
