On July 13, 2024, at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, chaos erupted when eight shots were fired within six seconds. Trump, who had just stepped off the stage, was seen with blood streaming from his ears. He defiantly raised his fist and shouted, “Fight, fight, fight!” while surrounded by a stunned crowd, the flag waving behind him.

There was a sense of dread when Trump initially bent down, but a Secret Service agent swiftly shielded him. Many worried that he had been fatally struck, only to breathe a sigh of relief as he managed to stand and be escorted toward a waiting SUV. Medical attention was provided at the scene before he was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital that evening.

In the aftermath, the venue remained deserted for hours, the gunman’s body left on the roof where he was shot. Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, was identified as the shooter, fatally struck within moments of the rampage.

Meanwhile, Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old former fire chief, shielded his family during the incident. Tragically, he was killed, and his coffin, draped in a flag, drew hundreds to his funeral. Two others were injured but survived: David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74.

Interestingly, even amidst this turmoil, some Democrats reportedly denied the assassination attempt on Trump, as indicated by a recent poll.

Less than two years after the Butler incident, Trump assumed the presidency, later reflecting on the significance of America’s 250th birthday as symbolizing the dawn of a new era.

However, despite being in office during these critical times, a Marist poll showed his approval rating dipping to 36%, reflecting mixed opinions on his economic policies, which marked the lowest stage of his second term.

In a different vein, major legislative promises were achieved, such as tax exemptions and drug pricing negotiations with pharmaceutical companies. These moves aimed to invigorate American manufacturing.
