Recall of Trader Joe’s Frozen Vegetable Fried Rice
The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service has announced an extensive recall involving nearly 10 million pounds of frozen vegetable fried rice sold at Trader Joe’s across numerous states.
Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. initiated the recall after discovering small glass shards in the product. These glass pieces measured between 1 to 3 centimeters in length and 2 to 4 millimeters in width.
The recalled items were available in 43 states, with only Hawaii, Maine, New Mexico, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Iowa remaining unaffected.
The products in question carry best buy dates from February 28, 2026, to November 19, 2026. This recall builds upon a previous one issued last month, which has now expanded. Overall, it impacts approximately 37 million pounds of ready-to-eat food items, including other brands like Kroger and Taipei.
Among the impacted products are Trader Joe’s Chicken Shu Mai and Chicken Fried Rice, which contain rice, vegetables, seasoned black chicken, and eggs.
The USDA has categorized this warning as a Class II recall. This classification suggests that while using or being exposed to the problematic food could lead to a temporary health effect, the likely chances of serious health repercussions are minimal.
Consumers are strongly advised not to eat these recalled products. They should be discarded or returned to the purchasing location for a complete refund. Although no injuries related to this recall have been reported so far, anyone who is worried about potential health effects should consult their healthcare provider.
