Former national security adviser John Bolton spoke Tuesday on CNN's “The Newsroom” about former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), President-elect Donald Trump's choice to lead the intelligence community. claimed that his view was “on another planet.”
Host Jim Acosta asked, “We've seen Matt Gaetz withdraw his nomination for Attorney General. Should Tulsi Gabbard do the same for Director of National Intelligence?”
Bolton said, “Look, she's said a lot of things in public that I think are disqualifying. These are not just because her views are extreme. They're on another planet. They're American. That's the view of someone who has no understanding of the national interest, and I think it would be illegal to put her in charge of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. I think not sharing information with the U.S. will have repercussions for foreign governments.”
He continued, “There are many claims, but that's why all senior appointees, especially those nominated to important national security positions, are basically administration after administration, Senate after Senate.'' “The practice is taking place before the Senate vote.” They will undergo a full background check by the FBI. This is not bullying Tulsi Gabbard or anyone else. That way you'll know what's really going on with all of them. ”
Bolton added, “Of all the candidates that Trump has proposed so far, I think this is the worse candidate. She and Matt Gaetz were the only two in class.” Ta.
“The gravity of her job and how poorly qualified she is to do it cannot be underestimated,” he concluded.
