Gal Gadot Receives Israel’s Genesis Award

Actress Gal Gadot, known for her role in wonder woman, has received the Genesis Award in Israel. This honor recognizes her steadfast support for Israel, especially as the country faces ongoing challenges from Hamas terrorism.

As a mother of four, Gadot proudly identifies as “a proud Jew and a proud Israeli.” She has faced personal challenges due to her advocacy but remains committed. In a generous move, she announced she would donate her $1 million prize to organizations focused on helping Israel recover from the consequences of its prolonged conflict with Islamic terrorism.

“Israel has endured unimaginable pain,” she stated during the award announcement on Tuesday, as reported by the Associated Press. “Now we must begin to heal and rebuild our hearts, families and communities.”

The Genesis Prize, often referred to as the “Jewish Nobel,” is awarded each year to individuals who have made significant contributions in various fields while upholding Jewish values.

Past recipients have donated their awards to causes they are passionate about, such as combating anti-Semitism, advocating for women’s rights, and promoting economic justice, according to the Associated Press.

The recent escalation in Gaza began with a Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the tragic loss of around 1,200 lives in southern Israel. More than 250 individuals were taken as hostages during this brutal event.

Gadot, who completed her military service in Israel right after high school, has consistently shown her support for her country amidst the ongoing conflict. She has actively campaigned for the safe return of hostages and met with their families, seeking to raise awareness and support. Furthermore, she played a role in promoting a documentary about the Hamas attack in Los Angeles.

Stan Polovetz, co-founder of the Genesis Prize Foundation, commended Gadot for her “moral clarity and unwavering love for Israel,” noting that her stance involved considerable personal and professional risks.

Details about next year’s awards ceremony have not yet been released. The previous award was presented to Argentine President Javier Millei, who accepted it in Jerusalem in June.
