San Francisco Chronicle Report Its online gaming platform Roblox and messaging app Discord were appointed defendants in a lawsuit filed last week in San Mateo County Superior Court. The complaint alleges that inadequate safety measures from the corporation allowed predators to target, groom and misuse the 13-year-old plaintiff in exchange for in-game currency.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff joined Roblox and Discord in 2023 after his father studied the platform and believed it was safe for his children. The initially declining plaintiffs eventually sent shower videos and full front nude photos to the predators in exchange for Roblox gift cards worth $10 each.

The following day, in the lawsuit, the Predator offered a $100 gift card in exchange for sex and a $25 gift card for a photo of a minor butt club. Discord banned the plaintiff after attempting to send the requested photo, but communication between the plaintiff and the suspect continued via text and email. The plaintiff revealed the address of his home and arranged for him to meet the predator. When the plaintiff did not appear, the predator threatened him, leading the plaintiff's parents to discover a text message and to involving the police. Officials believe that the suspicious predators have used at least 26 other children through online platforms, including Discord and Roblox.

His innocence was taken away from him forever. What happened is far from an isolated event. The plaintiff is one of countless children whose lives have been devastated due to Roblox and Discord's misrepresentation and impaired apps.”

This is not the first lawsuit faced by either Discord or Roblox. Breitbart News previously reported on the 2023 lawsuit against Roblox, focusing on grooming.

This is over 60% of people under the age of 16, from harmful content and potential predators.

Parents have expressed deep concern about the platform's safety measures or lack of it. “There's a misconception that Robras is safe. The brand has a bit of a halo around it because the company mispromotes it to its parents,” said Alexandra Walsh, who represents her parents. “The lawsuit details the intrusive incident, including children who engage in explicit activities and encounter avatars exposed to inappropriate messages and grooming tactics.
