Garrett Wilson of the Jets prepares for a matchup with his former Ohio State teammate

Former Teammates Reunite in Upcoming Game

This Sunday afternoon, Garrett Wilson will be reunited with his former Ohio teammates Emeka Egbuka. It’s a bit nostalgic, I think, for both of them.

Egbuka has made an impressive start in his NFL career, having caught eight passes for 96 yards and three touchdowns during his first two games with the Buccaneers.

Wilson expressed his happiness for Egbuka’s success, stating, “It’s good to see him. He’s got a big start in his career.” Quite the accomplishment for Egbuka, really.

The two played together when Egbuka was a freshman and Wilson was in his junior year. They were part of a ridiculously talented Ohio wide receiver group that included players like Marvin Harrison Jr., Chris Olave, and Jackson Smith-Njigba. It’s hard to believe how stacked that lineup was.

During their time, they even reached the national championship game, although they ended up losing to Alabama, which must have been a tough experience.

Wilson recalls, “That’s why we chose Ohio. At the time, we didn’t know how special it would be.” It’s interesting how moments from the past can shape our future, sometimes in unexpected ways.

However, Egbuka (who has been dealing with a hip/groin issue) hasn’t practiced this week, which could affect his playing status.

As for Wilson, he also mentioned Justin Fields, his best friend, who is unfortunately out this week due to a concussion. “I saw him this morning, and he’s doing good,” Wilson said, though it must be frustrating for Fields not to be on the field.

Meanwhile, the Jets are facing some challenges too, as wide receiver Josh Reynolds (hamstring) and edge rusher Jermaine Johnson (ankle) may not be playing on Sunday. They both continued practicing, but the team is still dealing with several injuries. Defensive lineman Jay Tufele (illness) and kick returner Kenne Nwanwu (hamstring) are still in the mix for recovery, and key players like safety Tony Adams (hip) and cornerback Michael Carter II (shoulder) were limited in practice. Injuries can really shake up a team’s game plan.
