Gary Player: ‘Tiger Woods’ PGA Tour career completely ruined’ amid “wrong decision”

Gary Player joins Germany KW Golf A YouTube channel where he discusses a variety of topics including health, great golf courses, exercise, golf coaches, and the difference between pros and amateurs.

But most interestingly, he offered his opinion on Tiger Woods’ career and how the Big Cat’s choices have caused him to underperform, relatively speaking, of course.

At 8:45 into the video, Player drops the mic.

“Tiger Woods had his career ruined, completely ruined,” the player said. “He won his 14th major at the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. He won by 14 strokes. The next week, I don’t know if he played in the Masters, but he was the guy who didn’t break 80. You will receive lessons from

He didn’t stop there. The 88-year-old explained how Woods continued to make decisions that seemed inappropriate to him.

“Then he goes to another player who probably couldn’t break 85 under the pressure of the Masters or the British Open or the PGA on the last day, and he takes lessons from them,” he said. . “Why did Tiger do that?” He was very good, but I understand he wanted to be better. If he had continued without making any changes, he would have won at least 22 games, maybe more. ”

“He would have gone down as the greatest athlete, male or female, the planet has ever seen, but he made the wrong decision,” the player said.

The player went on to say that there are at least 20 players who have ruined their games because of their swing coach’s choices. He cited Trevor Immelman, Mike Weir, Michael Cameron and Woods as some examples.

Tiger won his 15th major at the 2019 Masters, earning him his fifth green jacket. Then, a horrific car accident in 2021 set him back.

“Unfortunately, he hurt his foot badly. Whether he will win another tournament is debatable,” the player said.

The 24-time PGA Tour winner said he will continue to support Tiger because of the way he changed golf.

The player never revealed the name of his swing coach, but anyone who has followed Tiger’s career knows who he is hinting at to ruin his 82-win career. In any case, he expressed a strong opinion that will certainly generate some discussion.

Did Woods ruin his career by changing his swing too many times, or did injuries and other factors make him a less successful golfer? Let us know what you think in the comments.
