Newsom Responds to Rogan’s Criticism
California Governor Gavin Newsom has expressed that he doesn’t wish to be a guest on Joe Rogan’s popular podcast. This comes despite him previously seeking an invite to join the show.
In a recent interview on CNN’s “The Story Is With Elex Michaelson,” Newsom critiqued Rogan, as he is seen by many as gearing up for a presidential run after his term as governor comes to an end. “If he had a substantial audience,” Newsom remarked, “and didn’t feel confident enough to have me on, then I wouldn’t go.”
He continued, “For years, he’s been attacking me, but it’s always one-sided. He never allows me to respond.” Newsom then stated, “I’m moving on; I’m not interested. Joe Rogan is basically the Facebook of podcasts.”
Michaelson countered, noting Rogan’s significant following. Newsom reiterated, “With all due respect, yes he has a large audience, but if he felt that he couldn’t showcase me, then I wouldn’t participate.”
He further elaborated, “These individuals share a commonality: they attack, diminish, and take things out of context. It’s a serious issue. There are times when I just think, ‘I really want to keep going.’ It’s not just a casual conversation.” He added, “Kamala Harris could have taken him on and won, but it’s deeper than that.”
Newsom expressed his disappointment with Rogan’s approach: “I don’t want someone like him to lack the basic decency to allow for civil dialogue. It’s disheartening.”
The exchange has gained attention online, rapidly going viral. Rogan, who moved to Texas from Los Angeles due to concerns over crime and taxes, has used his platform to criticize liberal governors, particularly regarding their ambitions.
Rogan responded wryly, “He’s quite the bull artist. When faced with facts, he shoots back with, ‘We have the best of everything!’” He pointed out various issues in California, including high unemployment and a severe homelessness crisis: “Hollywood is like a ghost town now; it’s practically nonexistent! And, let’s not forget the vaccination mandates for kids who really didn’t need them. You’ve just done a terrible job!”
Earlier in the month, Newsom had claimed that Rogan lacked the courage to have him on the show to reveal the truth to listeners, even inviting him directly on social media.
