Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) has directed state officials to help oil refineries stay open in the state despite having “demonized” the industry for many years.
Newsam Instructions State officials ensure reliable fuel supply for the country’s largest automotive market. The action comes just days after Ballero Energy said on Wednesday that it would permanently close or rebuild Benicia refineries by the end of April 2026. This accounts for 9% of the state’s crude oil refining capacity.
Philips 66 in October I said The Los Angeles area refinery will be suspended.
“We are ordering that Californians have doubled the state’s efforts to work closely with refiners on short- and long-term plans, including high levels of immediate involvement, to ensure that Californians continue to have access to a safe, affordable, reliable, reliable supply of transport fuel,” Newsmom wrote.
Newsom’s administration led one of the most climate change policies of any nation, so refiners face troubling regulatory costs. California plans to ban new gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035.
“California gasoline prices are one of the highest in the US as they offset the decline in state supply as states rely on imports from Latin America and the Middle East,” Reuters wrote.
Industry officials and representatives believe California’s hostility towards the US energy industry has led to this crisis.
“Governor Newsom has built a demonised career in the US oil and natural gas industry. Now I hope that California refineries remain open. Some ideas, Governor: Abolish your EV mandate, stop the villains of American energy workers, and end the regulations on expensive refineries you have installed.” I wrote it.
“The Governor’s letter to the California Energy Commission directs you to direct us to direct us to “redouble” efforts to work closely with refiners.
He said, “State policy, not the new administration in Washington, is why fuel manufacturers struggle to operate in California, and why California drivers face the highest fuel prices in the country.”
It was reported in August that California Energy had been commissioned announcement Proposal to implement government control of the oil industry to combat the surge in potential energy prices.
