Jennifer Siebel Newsom Critiques Conservative Views on Abortion
Jennifer Siebel Newsom, spouse of California Governor Gavin Newsom, recently expressed her discontent with evangelical Christians and conservatives for what she views as their resistance to progressive interpretations of pro-life. In a series of recently resurfaced videos, her criticism suggests that these groups are impeding necessary progress.
During a 2022 interview with Erex Michaelson, she commented, “They live in this evangelical, conservative silo, and at the end of the day, they’re just taking us back as a country to a time and place that we shouldn’t be.” It seems her concern is that traditionalist views on life are stifling broader definitions that encompass various aspects of care and support.
She continued, “I’m grateful that so many progressives are leaning toward redefining what it means to be pro-life. That’s what we’re doing in California.” For her, pro-life isn’t solely about pregnancy; it also includes essential services like prenatal care, universal preschool, and health care. It’s not just about the the beginning of life; it’s about sustaining it in various forms.
She also mentioned the potential negative impact of conservative views, suggesting they threaten to revert societal progress. “Let’s face it, young women and fathers of girls are awake now and they’re not going to let us go,” she asserted, highlighting her optimism for change in public perception.
In other recent interactions, Jennifer has sparked attention by dismissing a pro-abortion event and chastising a reporter for straying from the topic at hand. She remarked about the focus of questions she received during the event, implying disparity in the media’s treatment of women’s issues. “It makes you wonder why there’s such a horrible war against women in this country,” she added, hinting at a widespread disregard for the challenges they face.
In the public realm, her video discussions have garnered significant attention, surpassing 1.5 million views on social media, indicating a strong engagement with the ongoing debates around women’s rights and healthcare.
