Gayle King is sending a message with her wardrobe.
On Wednesday, the “CBS Mornings” co-host wore a black and white T-shirt to send a message that her good friend Oprah Winfrey was OK after she went to the emergency room with gastroenteritis.
The front of King’s shirt read, “Oprah is OK! Thanks for listening,” and on the back, “She appreciates your concern!”
King, 69, wrote in the caption She said she wore the shirt to work because “10 people” in her office had asked her “the same question.”
Earlier this week, the “Notes to Self” author revealed that Winfrey, 70, was unable to appear on her friend’s CBS show this week because she had a bad case of gastroenteritis.
“She had what seemed to be gastroenteritis and something was coming out of both ends,” King said. Explained on Tuesday“I won’t go into too much detail. Needless to say, she was admitted to hospital with dehydration and had to be put on an IV. It was very serious.”
The news anchor added that the “Color Purple” star was “trying to bounce back” but ultimately missed out on the show.
A spokesperson for Winfrey told Page Six that the media mogul was “recovering from gastroenteritis and, at her doctor’s recommendation, was receiving an IV drip for dehydration.”
“She is resting and feeling better each day.”
After the revelations about King’s best friend went viral, she Post to Instagram To clarify, the billionaire was not hospitalized.
“She missed the game because she was dehydrated with the stomach flu and had to go to the hospital to get an IV,” she wrote, along with a video of her talking to Winfrey over FaceTime.
“I thought I’d made that clear, but the next thing I knew I was shocked to see the headline, ‘Oprah In Hospital!’ (She wasn’t!) Then I was inundated with calls asking if Oprah was OK. The answer is YES! Let’s go straight to the source.”
In December 2023, Winfrey revealed that she had lost 40 pounds using weight loss drugs.
In May, the “Beloved” star apologized for “significantly contributing” to “diet culture” over the past 25 years.
“I’ve been a big part of this. I can’t tell you how many diet shows and makeover shows I’ve done. They’ve been a staple ever since I started working in television,” she admitted during the three-hour Weight Watchers special.
